**Updates here.....

8/27/04 In the HoH challenge Thursday night there were two preliminary rounds and then a face-off on a mini-putting green.   The HGs were split into two groups of three to compete for a shot at the 'finals.'  Julie specifically said that winner of each elimination round would be the person whose ball hit the bottom of the cup first.
 

In the first round Marvin's ball entered the cup first right before Karen's - as soon as it entered the cup Julie congratulated Marvin who jumped in excitement.  But watching the shot it is clearly evident that Karens ball dropped to the bottom of her 'tube' while Marvin's was still spinning.  Karen should have won that round.  Instead Marvin went on to win HoH for the week.  Does Karen have any recourse?  Doubtful. I will be posting Pictures and perhaps Audio of Julie reading the rules soon.

Here are 2 screencaps from the show - the first one you can see Marvin's ball is further in the cup than Karens - in the second you can still see the tip of Marvin's ball yet Karen's has already dropped below the lip of her cup.  If you see the video (below) you clearly see Karen's ball drop in her tube - Marvin's never does while it is still on camera.  By the way - Julie was already congratulating Marvin in both these shots - and you can see his ball HAD NOT reached the bottom of the tube in either picture.

Karen's Ball has dropped into the top of the cup and in the frames immediatly after this you see it drop to the bottom.  The camera on Marvin has moved up but you can still see the ball on the left side of the cup STILL spinning.

Note - its hard to see - but one thing is for sure - you can see Karens Ball drop right by the #10 - you never see Marvins ball in the tube itself - personally I think it was still spinning.  I also feel that Julie was VERY specific that the ball had to reach the bottom of the tube first (more on this later).  Another thing is for sure - Julie was congratulating Marvin before the ball was even fully in the cup.

11pm Thursday - Marvin is in the HoH bedroom - they surely are not going to reverse the ruling now...  looks like thats the end of that.

3pm Friday  - ok - some folks say that the reson Julie said the bal had to drop all the way down was to allow for "pop outs" - balls that popped in and out - but I still think they should have had a buzzer or something at the bottom of the cup - when Marvin was playing against Michael you can be sure that if it was close they would not count any ball that was still spinning in the tube at the end of time.
