The live feeds have been off (showing the fishtank only) since roughly 11am today.  After several hours speculation began that they might be off until Saturday night.

Some people started reporting they had called CBS or other sources and were told various things.  One person reported the feeds would be off until after the TV show, another reported they would be off until 6am.  Still another reported they would be on as soon as the last competition was over (HoH after eviction).

As I was beginning to pull my hair out I decided to get in on the act.  So I called the production company for Big Brother and the person I spoke to reported that all she could tell me was that the feeds would be back on as soon as the competition was over.  She would not give me a time estimate - would not (as would be expected) give me any details of what was going on - just that it would be after the competitions.
 

She also stated that they were in contact with CBS and CBS was supposed to put a notice to that effect on the Official Big Brother page very soon. Last year we were blocked out for several hours when Marvin was evicted and the show was being taped for it's saturday broadcast.   One difference is that we did get to know the POV winner between the POV contest and the Eviction show taping. Some have also speculated that there is an endurance HoH going on and that is why the feeds might be down for so long.  That would be idiocy on the part of CBS - the endurance competiton creates a tremendous buzz and also makes drives the number of live feed viewers up tremendously.

UPDATE:  I also spoke with CBS around 4pm today - the woman I spoke with was one of 4 operators at CBS - she told me they had answered thousands of calls today and all she had was a statement she could read (she probably doesn't even know the show)  - The staement said something to the effect that the feeds were off to keep the results of the competitions 'secret' until after the show tommorow.

I think i will stick with the person I spoke with ar Shapiro productions - she is a bit closer to the show than an operator at CBS reading an e-mail.

The funny thing was even the operator agreed that it seemed funny to call something a 24/7 feed and then have it shut off for a day.

Ah well - by Saturday night none of us will care anymore.
