When Big Brother ’starts’ tomorrow it the House Guest’s (HG’s) will be on at least their third if not fourth or even fifth day of living in the house. So what have they been up to and what will the weekly real-time schedule be like this year?
It looks to me like things will follow pretty much the same course they did last year since the weekly show schedule is the same. So here is what has probably already happenned.
The first night someone (or maybe two if they repeat the dual HoH of last year) has been elected or ‘won’ the Head of Household position. That same person has also already nominated two houseguests for eviction. The ‘power of veto’ competition may or may not have occurred – they may wait until the weekend for that one since he first eviction is still a week away. The initial food competition will probably take place on Friday.
After the first week here is how a ‘normal’ week should run (until they get down to 7 or 8 HG’s).
Thursday – House cleaning and rehearsal for TV Show. Live TV show with the eviction and HoH competition.
Friday – Food competition and nominations.
Saturday – Power of Veto Competition.
Sunday – Luxury Competition (if there is one). TV Show showing Nominations and Food Competition.
Monday – POV Ceremony
Tuesday - Usually nothing in house. TV Show showing POV Competition and POV Ceremony.
Wednesday – Voting (until the switch to live voting).
Thursday – Repeat.

As I reported yesterday, the TV Guide channel had a segment on Big Brother on their “Reality Chat” program where they showed videos of some of the new house guests.
In that segment we saw a house guest by the name of Samantha that was not seen in the CBS commercials and isn’t listed on the official Big Brother 8 website.
Speculation arose that there might be additional HGs we were not aware of and even possibly more HGs that were going to enter the house.
Turns out, according to producer Allison Grodner, Samantha is/was an alternate that was on standby in case an original HG could not make it in the house. A similar situation presented itself durng Big Brother 4 when an original HG by the name of Brandon Showalter was kicked off the show while the HGs were still waiting to enter the house. He was replaced by Jee who was an ex-boyfriend of the eventual winner Jun.
Now Allison didn’t say if Samantha entered the house but I am extremely doubtful. When Brandon was kicked off there was actually very little mention of him by CBS. If one of the original 14 HGs has already been eliminated or kicked off and replaced by Samantha, I’d be shocked. And No HG has ever been ‘replaced’ when kicked out of the house (Justin from BB2 and Scott from BB4 both left and were not replaced during their seasons).
So now that that is settled I think everything is in order to begin the live feeds on Thursday night. I am using the links I have posted on the upper left of this page and all is well – as I type this the Quad Cam has been running for 55 minutes without a break. Granted there is nothing to see but a ‘test pattern’ but the music isn’t too bad if you are ok with ‘new age.’
