11:10pm Zach and Mike seem to be aligned a bit.  They are currently strategizing in the round-bed bedroom. Zach is annoyed with Kail because apparently she isn’t discrete when she tries to strategize.  Again the discussion of “Six” is mentioned but I am still not sure who all is in this potential alliance of six.

11pm I just finished watching some serious strategy talk between Dick and Amber with a little of Dustin. It is very apparent that Dick is in very tight with Amber.  Dick feels pretty vunerable in the house.  Everything currently hinges on POV.  From the convos I have heard in the house I think Carol will go if the nominations stay the same.

The layout of the house has changed in another way – for some reason there are steps down into the bathroom from the hall.  I’m not sure if the bathroom is lower or if the hall is like a ramp rising as you walk back.

It is unclear if the three that were safe from nominations will get to vote – that being Dustin, Jessica and Dick.

10pm  Here are a few pics from the feeds.  I don’t know if I will learn much more tonight – I did update my podcast (link in the upper left).  So this may be it for the night! 

9:50pm  Slop update – Pickles are a condiment this  year so they are ok to eat.  The HGs don’t get why that is – obviously they don’t understand how this show works yet!

9:17pm  Dustin said today is Day Six.  That would mean they entered the house on Saturday – yikes! 

9:15pm  Carol may be nominated she is talking about how she may have given the wrong impression – that she wanted to go home while talking to Dustin.   Thats it – Carol and Amber are nominated – confirmed based on the conversation.

9:06pm  Feeds are live – and the first food competition is aparently over – it looks to me like Joe and Jameka are at  least on the slop.  No clue on nominations yet.

8:45pm  Almost there!  The feeds better start in 15 minutes or I am gonna go crazy! 

7:04pm  Don’t want to read my recap of tonight’s show?  You can listen to my short recap and opinions on my podcast here.  I’m really convinced the feeds won’t kick in until 9pm now.  The only bad part of that is it is 12am my time and I wanted to get to bed at a decent hour!

6:55pm  Hmmmmm, I am starting to suspect that CBS is going to hold off on starting the feeds until after 9pm this year so they can start them on ShoToo at the same time.  I’d have to look back to see the last time they waited until 9pm BB time to start them. 

6pm Show is over (see recap link below).  The feeds have not changed to a live shot yet.  The image I see is what I would call a moving “Water Tunnel” with the same BB music from last year.

That’s right, tonight is the first episode of BB8, I know all of you knew that already.   I’ll be re-capping it on this page on the fly, but until then here is what you can expect to see.

Since these HGs are all new to us unlike last year, I am sure a good 50% of the show will be taken up meeting the new house guests.  Then they will most likely enter the house in two groups with the ‘rivals’ not being in the same groups (mind you all of this happened earlier this week).  Then we’ll get to see/hear the reactions as the ‘rivals’ dish the dirt on each other. 

 Remember, not every HG in the house will have a rival, that may be a positive or a negative because I assume some rivalry’s are not as intense as they may initially appear.  For example, Dick may have a hard time plotting against his own daughter Danielle.

There will then most likely be some type of endurance competition to arrive at the first Head of Household (HoH).  If you recall during BB6 they HGs all stood on a giant surfboard until one was left.  I doubt there will be co-HoH’s this year but you never know, it was kind of popular last year and some people hoped it would have happened more than one time.  However with all new HGs this year I’m thinking it won’t happen.

We will then get our first peek at the HoH room, something CBS has kept a lid on so far this year.  I liked the way they completely remodelled the room for each HoH but that might have been just a special thing for BB All Stars.

 The next, and probably last, thing to squeeze into tonight’s show will be nominations.  This early on its almost always a crap shoot who gets nominated.  And don’t count on what you see on the show as the mood.  It is very possible that CBS is spinning things to appear a certain way.  We will know much much more by midnight tonight.

Once the show ends – or right as it ends is when the live feeds will kick in.  And we will all be going crazy trying to listen to the new voices and figure out who is who.  I’ll be right here updating my Main Page as I learn about the house guests and who is in alliances with who.

Big Brother 8 Episode #1 Recap
July 5th, 2007

The show begins with the new HGs getting their keys and acting all surprised. They introduce themselves in this order….. Jessica, Danielle, Dick, Jen, Mike….. Kail (KALE), Joe…. Carol…. Amber, Zach, Dustin, Jameka…..

They bring out the first eleven houseguests to enter the house. They can’t talk until they are in the house. Obviously 3 not coming in yet are the rivals.

They are given one minute to claim their beds and are told some will be bedmates.

Carol, Joe, Mike and Amber enter first. Carol says Mike is ‘over the top’ but you have to love him.

Nick, Daniele and Jameka enter.

One bedroom has tiny beds as we expected.

Kail, Jen, Eric and Zach enter last for the first eleven. They get stuck with the tiny beds it seems.

Jen says she isn’t attracted to anyone in the house, the HGs think others will be coming in. They then proceed to introduce themselves. Daniele lies about her age since she will be 21 in 2 months.

Zach says the girls are hot but he is here to play the game. Nick also says all the girls are hot. Carol is annoyed with Jen. Kail doesn’t tell the HGs that she owns several businesses @ home. Amber and Kail both have kids.

Joe is obviously gay and Kail confides in the Diary Room (DR) that she would not want her children to grow up in the ‘gay lifestyle.’

-COMMERCIAL-

Julie reveals that three houseguests are already in the house in the Head of Household (HoH) room. Dick, Jessica and Dustin are shown and told about the situation. They get to watch the new HGs via the secret camera.

Dustin see’s his ex – Rob.

Jessica sees her high school rival Carol.

Dick sees his daughter Daniele says she hasn’t spoken to him in 2 years.

Dustin says Rob and him have big issues. He says Joe is very manipulative.

Jessica says she has not spoken to Carol in three years.

Jessica mentions $5 that Carol never repaid her and Dustin and Dick make fun of her for being upset about it.

Now Julie reveals that there are others in the house and they have been watching them. She also says the first competition will begin soon.

The 11 HGs prepare for a compeition and we go to…..

-COMMERCIAL-

Back yard is full of mushrooms and the eleven will compete for HoH – the other three will not and remain in the HoH room yet to be introduced. They pair up and Nick is left without a partner so he can not compete.

Mushroom Madness is the name of the game. One partner sits on a mushroom, the other answers T/F questions about the HGs. They spin and spin faster as the one partner misses questions.

Two have admitted to cosmetic surgery.

Four have said they would give up friendship for $500k

One would not give up their seat to a pregnant lady on a bus.

One admitted to be a member of the mile high club.

The spinning HGs are pelted with some kind of glop.

More than half said they would have no problem starting a malicious rumor.

Carol off – her partner Amber also eliminated.

Zach off – his partner Jen eliminated.

No questions left so it becomes an endurance competition. Joe, Mike, and Kail are spinning. Mike falls off first – Danielle is also eliminated.

- COMMERCIAL -

Joe finally falls off, eliminating himself and Jameka. Kail and Eric are the winners of the first HoH competition. One will be HoH.

The other three HGs are safe from eviction and get to decide who is the first HoH. Eric does NOT want it.

Dick, Dustin and Jessica choose Kail saying she did all the work.

Kail is excited and talk of nominations begin and we get…..

- COMMERCIAL -

Julie informs the eleven that they will be joined soon by rivals/enemies. They speculate who it might be.

Joe says he thinks it will be Dustin and that Dustin gave him gonorrhea.

Carol can only think of a rival from seventh grade.

Daniele thinks it might be her dad.

Others speculate but of course they are wrong.

Jesssica comes down, there isn’t much reaction.

Dick comes down and explains Daniele hasn’t spoken to him in two years.

Dustin comes down and meets everyone. Joe clams up and is upset. Nick notices the mood turns somber.

Daniele goes into the bathrrom and cries and is joined by Jameka who says Dick doesn’t have to be here for long if she doesn’t want (implying they could vote him out).

-COMMERCIAL-

Julie reveals that one of the Houseguests is America’s player.

Turns out Eric is the player. Eric says he is doing it for everyone – we (America) controls everything he does (Editorial comment – we’ll see). Julie says we give directions to Eric every episode – Eric must follow them and will earn $10,000 for every 5 tasks he completes.

Then there is lots of teasing for future episodes and it is obvious lots has already gone on including nominations – but the nominations are not revealed.

That pretty much wraps tonight’s show up. I should know who is nominated by the end of the night once the feeds kick in. I will post that info along with everything I come across on my Main Page!

Just a quick note, still waiting for the feeds to go live and the show tonight. I have updated my Big Brother House Map to reflect the slightly new layout.

While I was doing it I thought about the “tiny” room they added and was reminded of the ad below from a few years ago. I am sure most of you have seen it, but is it still fun to watch!
