Big Brother 8 Episode #3 Recap
July 10th, 2007

As usual a recap of the previous episodes leading up to Kail’s nomination of Carol and Amber. 

Opening Credits.

 Kail says she doesn’t feel Amber of Carol can blame her for nominating thm, Amber and Carol feel she took a cowardly way out with her excuse about them not doing well on the HoH comp.  Jessica is only concerned that Carol be evicted before her.

Kail thinks she got off “Scotch” Free (yes she said Scotch).

Dustin hugs Amber and also comforts Carol.  Carol says she does not want to fight Amber.  Amber is crying a lot in and out of the Diary Room (DR). 

Jessica and Carol talk in the tea cup.  Carol says she can’t compete against Amber, she doesn’t know what to to about finding people to vote for her.  Jessica feels she is pretending to be ok wit things.  Just like Jessica wanting Carol out first - Carol says she wants Jessica out first.

Carol talks to Zach - Zach says he has not commited to vote for either - Carol says she didn’t want to fight for it but asks for Zach’s help.  Zach in the DR says he is going to help out the person that will help him best.

Outside Dick and Kail talk about his son, Dick says he took his son to a strip club when he turned 21 and they were both drunk.  Dick says he has a very strong bond with his son.  Kail remarks that Dick has a very ’soft’ interior.  Dick says Daniele is very much like him and that makes it tough.

Nick talk…..  some girls and guys think nick is ‘hot’ - Jen says she doesn’t like muscles.  Nick is shown flirting with Daniele.   Then he is shown talking with Amber - whom Nick says is second on his list to ‘flirt’ with.  Then we see him talking to Jen.  Jen says she has a little interest in him.  Carol asks Nick which one will be the lucky girl?  Nick says, “or boy?”

As Carol and Jen are gossiping about Nick and Daniele - Jen says Nick tried to kiss her.  Joe overhears and goes right back to tell Nick.  Nick comes out and confronts Jen.  Jen gives Nick a look implying he wasn’t being honest and Nick is obviously upset.  Jen says that Nick did try it.  Witness to the whole even are Jessica, Jameka, Joe and Carol.  Needless to say Jen looks pretty bad.

-COMMERCIAL-

Jen has a private chat with Nick in the storage room.  She pretty much implies she isn’t happy with Nick flirting with everyone.  They hug and Jen asks if he will try to kiss her later - Nick carefully dodges the issue.  Then he goes and tells Dick, Amber and others what she said. 

Now everyone is bashing Jen and he clothes and her many t-shirts with Jen things on them (it is an imitation of Will’s shirts from last year).

Kail and Amber talk in the HoH room.  Kail asks whom she should put up if Carol comes off the block - Amber suggests Jen.

Kail talking to Mike feels that Carol will hold more of a grudge about being nominated than Amber.

 Cut to Amber talking out loud to God asking him to help her.  In the DR she says she feels God is on her side (ed - so what did Carol do to have God against her?  Sheesh!).

-COMMERCIAL-

Power Of Veto (POV) competition.  Kail, Amber and Carol draw balls to pick whom will play with them.  Kail got HG choice and picked Daniele.  Amber drew Jameka.  Carol drew Nick.  Kail asked Jessica to host the competition.  Everyone else had to wait in the HoH room.

Each person was given a POV symbol to hide in the house.

Daniele hid hers in the slop bucket.  Carl hid hers in a bed.  Amber hid hers in a pillow case in a bed.  Nick hid his under a matress.  Kail hid hers in a box of tea bags.  Jameka hid hers in her ‘hair bag.’ 

Danielle was first up with 1 minutes to search the house. She didn’t find one.

Meanwhile Jen is in the HoH room with Dick and Dick comments in the DR it was driving him nuts.

Carol finds a symbol in her time.  Amber runs out of time.  Nick runs out of time.  Kail tears apart the bedrooms and finds one symbol.

Back in the HoH room Dick tells Jen she was a real bitch to him the first night.  He also comments that she was rude with the ‘don’t touch me’ comment during the food competition.

Speaking of the competition - Jameka finds a symbol on her trip.  Nick found one as well.  Daniele found the fifth veto.

Since Daniele’s was the only symbol not found - she won the POV. 

Amber starts asking Daniele if she likes Jen and it seems she might want Daniele to use it and then perhaps Kail will nominate Jen.

-COMMERCIAL-

Eric’s first assignment - to tell a traumatic story to Kail.  Eric irritated his eyes and pulled Kail into the HoH room.  He proceeds to weave a story about a girl that he dated in high school and her eating disorder and how it was brought back because of looking at Danielle.  Kail bought it hook line and sinker.

Joe and Dustin talk.  Joe asks Dustin what he needs from him (Joe) - Dustin says he just wants Joe’s respect.  Dustin also apologizes to Joe for not being as understandign about some family things and this seems to satisfy Joe.

Outside Daniele mulls over using the POV as a way to get Jen out.

And with that - my cable has gone out (seriously).  Lucky for me I know the outcome of the show.

Daniele mulls over her decision, calls everyone in to the living room for the ceremony.  Carol and Amber both have a chance to say why she should use it on them and then Daniele decides…. NOT to use the POV (The Jen thing was never seriously considered - thanks CBS for the editing to imply it was - lol).

Show ends and we are finally caught up to Yesterday.  Tune Thursday for the first live eviction of the year!

10:50pm  Nick and Zach are wishy washy.  Nick wants to vote to evict Carol so he won’t upset Danielle.  He and Mike think Jessica is voting out Amber so it will be ok for Nick to vote out Carol (they are wrong).  Zach wants to know he is voting with the majority before he agrees to vote out Amber.  I am pretty sure I will know where things stand after the vote tomorrow but its still all up in the air.  There is strategy on each cam every few minutes. 

10pm  Hmmmmm hmm hmmm  Joe and Jessica talking - Joe doesn’t seem swayed at all - he seems very much locked to vote out Carol now.  Meanwhile out on the hammock….  Nick just said to Daniele, and I quote, “I’m in like with you.”

9:55pm  Hmmmmm now Zach just said that he may vote to evict Carol because Dustin will be mad at him if he doesn’t.  This Mrs. Robinson Alliance isn’t very strong in its voting agreements - lol.

9:45pm  Carol is talking too much to Jessica.  She is asking for her vote and Jessica is all ears but I am pretty sure she won’t change her mind.  But now Carol is mentioning other names that might be helping her - not good info to pass on to  Jessica.  

9pm - WOW - Keep Carol?  Mike and Nick are voting to keep Carol!?!  Sounded like the Mrs. Robinson alliance decided Carol was worth more to them than Amber who is so tight with Dustin.  Could it be swinging? But they may not have the votes they think they have.  11 votes total.  So here is how I see the votes going.

Vote Out Carol: Dustin, Jameka, Daniele, Dick, Jessica

Vote Out Amber: Jen, Zach, Nick, Mike

Unknown: Joe, Eric

8:45pm   15 minutes until the Showtime broadcast begins.  How to you fire up a bored house?  Alcohol!  Jen and Jessica just found heard the staff stocking the storage room with beer and wine and have now brought it out to the rest of the HGs.  BB getting the HGs drunk for ‘good’ TV?  Shocking! (lol - Dick just commented that it is right before the Showtime show).

8:15pm Carol is talking to Jameka and Jameka is at least being honest that she is sticking with Amber.  Although I find her reasoning (that God had a hand in it by having Amber draw her name for the POV competition) a bit of a stretch.  She also feels like since she (Jameka) found Carol’s POV in the competition it was another ’sign’ she was supposed to support Amber.  I’m sorry to anyone I might offend, but I honestly find it hard to believe that God is telling Jameka that Abmer deserves to be in the house more than Carol.  Carol still thinks she has six votes.  I don’t think she will get one tomorrow, well, maybe Jen.  Amber in the house will be better for the drama, I think Amber is much more capable of playing dirty than Carol.

8pm  Two main hang out areas tonight - the kitchen and the hot tub.  They are trying to think of things to do. 

7pm - Carol is doing some serious scrambling to try to get votes and people seem to be humoring her, but the reality of the situation as far as I can tell is she is still going.  People just are letting her talk. 

6pm - READ MY ON THE FLY RECAP OF TONIGHT’S SHOW HERE 

(I’ll fill in the gap here after the show - but it has been slow!)

1pm  Looks like another day of bikini’s and bathing trunks.  Nick, Zack and Dustin have filled Danielle in on the drinking game they played last night.  Dustin says he has 2 glasses and Nick and Zach had about 7 - they were going to the bathroom all night.   Amber is the only HG that is still in bed - apparently this is the third day in a row she will be the last up.

11:30am More T-Shirts - Jen really did go to the Dr. Will school of t-shirtology.

11:20am  The house is finally beginning to wake up.  As a matter of fact it looks like Big Brother is playing music for them because there is an extended “Water” Screen.   They will play a song or two occasionally in the mornings as a nice thing since they don’t get to sing.  Think of it as the wake up call for the shuttle crew.  Ok - thats pushing it a little but you get my point.

Before the wake up song Kail and Dustin were having a discussion about sexuality, it very well may make the show is the do a piece on Kail being conservative and living with two gay men in the house.

9:30am  Other than a potty break or two, all the HGs are holding down the beds quite nicely. 

7:25am  All quiet on the BB front. 

4:40am  The house is sound asleep.  Dick actually is in bed!

For a brief moment last night there appeared to be hope for Carol - but then Nick, Mike and Zach decided they were safer keeping Amber because they all had deals with her.

Hard to tell because it is so early, but the Dustin/Amber alliance seems to be the one everyone is hovering around so the guys may be hurting themselves not getting her out this week.  Then again if they did rise up and save Carol, would the rest of the house form an alliance against them?  Really a tough call week one.  But if Amber and Dustin go far - look to this first week and one of the main reasons.

Here is a video of Mike telling Kail why they want to still vote out Amber.  Personally I find his reasons flawed, but I have more info on the situation in the house than he does (like everyone else knows he and Kail are in an alliance).

As for the rest of the night/morning since my last post.

Joe was telling a story and apparently it was copyrighted so Big Brother switched all cams off of him and settled on Dick.  So now not only can they not sing on camera, they cannot recite copyrighted stories, then again up until this year that hasn’t been a problem.

There was some late-night ‘play’ wrestling that happened after ShotToo went off the air between Jen and Eric - I missed it as well of course since I was sound asleep.  I’ll be on the look out for any videos that will most likely pop up and stick them here.
