Big Brother 8 Episode #9 Recap
July 24th, 2007

Recapping everything from Dick winning HoH to nominating Jen and Kail.

Opening Credits.

Dick, in the Diary Room (DR) says he nominated both of them because of their campaigning to get him out. He is obviously more wanting to get Kail out. Kail in the DR says we will see a new Kail - working to stay in the house.

Dick tells Jen she isn’t the target, that Kail is (in front of Kail). Zach in the DR feels he dodged a bullet and Kail doesn’t know how to play the game.

Next up - Zach streaking across the back yard Friday night - you can read about it on this page (Warning - Zach’s nakeness is somewhat visible on that page).

Jen, in the round bedroom, talks to Kail about being Dick’s target. Kail asks if people think Dick is ‘god’ - Jen says no. They discuss who they do and don’t want playing the POV. Mike comes into the room and lets Jen and Kail know he would save one of them if he played and won the POV.

Jen is alone in the round bedroom again, talks to Dick. Dick tells her she has played a bad game. Kail tells Dick that Jen is after Daniele so why would he want Jen in the house over her? Dick says she lied to him and can’t be trusted. She has no chance in the house unless she wins the Power of Veto (POV).

-COMMERCIAL-

Eric completes his assignment and covertly squirts mustard all over one of Jen’s shirts. He manages to get away with it and Jen discovers the shirt a few minutes later. Jen asked everyone who did it and explains in the DR that she didn’t even care much, she found it more like a second grade stunt. Mission accomplished by Eric.

Names are drawn for the POV Competition. Besides Dick, Kail, and Jen - Zach, Jessica and Nick will play. Kail realizes she is basically playing alone. Eric was selected to host.

Dick decides to un-nerve Kail right before the POV contest. He tells her he will be doing everything to get her out. Kail warns Jen that Dick is trying to intimidate them, and Dick follows Jen into the Storage Room (SR) and tells Jen that Kail was trying to sell her out the night before. He saysKail asked him not to say anything but implies he is ratting her out anyways because she (Kail) needs to go home.

Dick then tells Kail in front of the other House Guests (HGs) that he ratted her out to Jen. Dick succeeds in rattling Kai.

-COMMERCIAL-

Eric comes out dressed as the Mad Hatter for the POV competition. The theme seems to be a tea party. The competitors must stand on a pedestal with a martini shaped glass on top of the over sized top hats they are wearing. Last one with a glass on their head wins.

Kail was the first off, Dick smiles. She tells everyone else they can quit because she is gone. She goes into the round bedroom and climbs in bed. Then all the other HGS come out dressed in very silly clothes and make fun of the remaining contestants.

Jessica laughs and is next to lose her glass. Next Nick is eliminated. Zach’s glass then tumbles off his head leaving Jen and Dick.

Dick tries to talk Jen into stepping down. She won’t do it. All the costumed HGs except Mike try to get Jen to falter. Then Mike and Kail talk in the kitchen and come up with a costume for mike involving a fake bra. Dick thinks they are scheming and asks people to go see what is going on. Mike comes out and tries to crack Dick up.

Nothing seems to be working and everyone except Mike looks like they have given up. Dick starts talking to Mike and tells him if Jen wins it he will go up in her place. Mike says it is a game and he won’t be intimidated, finally Dick steps down and tells Mike he will be going up. In the DR Dick says Mike’s move beats Marcellas’ when he didn’t use the POV in Big Brother Three.

Kail in the DR says her fate in the house is in God’s hands.

Now we see the goings on from Sunday night - here is the recap as I saw it that night (not all of this was shown on TV):

Nick was in the HoH room listening to Dick’s CD. Dustin came in to chat. Zach brought him a beer. Jen came up - at which point Dustin took off (to get away from Jen). After a few minutes of no conversation, Nick asked Jen and Zack to leave, realizing it might look bad to be alone with them. He was right but it was too late.

Dick saw Jen and Zack leave and went up and kicked Nick out of the HoH room and scolded him for letting Jen in the room.

Nick, knowing Dick assumed the worst, went out into the hammock where Zack tried to approach him. Nick told him to leave him alone because Dick was mad at him and he hadn’t done anything.

After complaining about what happened to Amber and slamming some dishes around, Dick heads outside and confronts Nick. Nick rips into Dick and tells him exactly what happened and that he is not in an alliance, that nothing was discussed, that he cares about Daniele and doesn’t want to hurt her.

Meanwhile Amber is off in a bedroom in tears because she feels berated by Dick. Eric and Dustin try to comfort her and Daniele goes out to tell Dick about the situation but he and Nick are still talking and he tells her to wait, which ticks Daniele off.

Dick and Nick shake hands and Dick and Daniele talk in the HoH room. Well they don’t talk as much as Daniele rips into Dick and tells him he is pissing off the entire house with his attitude. This meeting doesn’t end well as Daniele ends the conversation and walks out.

Dick then proceeds to find Amber and take her into the storage room and talk to her for 30 minutes and smooth things over.

The Amber stuff was completely omitted, the part I didn’t mention was Dick, later on, offering to go to family counseling with Daniele.

Dick talks to Eric, Jameka and Jessica about maybe putting up Nick in Jen’s place as a way to shake up the house.

-COMMERCIAL-

Finally it is time for the POV meeting, short and sweet, Jen uses it and Dick puts up Mike in her place.

Mike in the DR says he knows Dick is after him no matter what. Dick says Mike should have kept his mouth shut (wouldn’t have mattered in my opinion). Nick says Dick is starting to piss people off (that is true).

11:55pm Quarters was the game up until midnight.

10pm Ok - one more post. Big Brother just gave them beer. Jessica is very excited.

9:55pm Dick rocked out to the Ramones and now everyone is eating. I’ll leave you for the night with this picture of Jessica and Dick checking themselves out in a mirror behind the counter. I guess I will miss the volley ball Dick has planned for tonight.

9:05pm Kail is campaigning - she has spoken with Amber about votes, feeling she may be able to secure the five she needs to stay. Dustin apparently found out Jen has been hoarding the bananas and told Eric. She has used them to make Banana bread tonight. Eric didn’t view that as a very nice thing since it is seen as a pretty selfish act and it is a breakfast item that others would have liked to have had.

7:30pm Yet again, not a whole lot has been missed. Currently Dick and Jen just finished a convo outside where Jes said she is a very un-sexual person. Eric and Jessica have been in the HoH bathtub for the last couple of hours. Talking a little game (they both agree Daniele and Dick are closer than they let on), and a lot of old relationships, family, etc.

4:45pm The day has been very uneventful. Nick hasn’t spoken with Daniele much. Currently Jen and Amber are being the chatter boxes.

2:10pm Outside lockdown is now over. Sounds like I missed something this morning. Dick rigged up the sprayer in the kitchen to soak whomever was the first to turn on the sink. It just so happens the first one up this morning was Daniele, so she got soaked.

1:50pm Now the HGs are on an outside lockdown. This isn’t allowing for a lot of game play.

12:30pm So for now it really does look like Mike will get voted out Thursday. Dick apparently thinks she will be such a ‘basket’ case she won’t be able to compete in the HoH. All I’ll say then is that the odds are 50/50 - because between now and voting Dick could easily change his mind again.
