Big Brother 9 Episode #5 Recap

Show begins with a recap of the last few shows - starting with Amanda and Alex winning HoH and ending with Matt and Natalie not using the Power of Veto (POV) and thus leaving Jen / Parker and Allison / Ryan on the block for eviction.
Opening Credits
Here comes Julie to re-recap what has gone on. Then she talks about the HUGE blowup that went on the Sunday night where Amanda was called out by Chelsia and Joshua for being a huge gossip.
I recapped the blowout as it went on on this page (link). Briefly Chelsia confronts Amanda about some of the things she has said and she denies it. Joshua blows his top and rips into Amanda. Calling her a horse face - telling her to shut up - we see in the Diary Room (DR) that Joshua did it intentionally to make her look bad.
The turning point for Amanda was when Josh implied she was hanging herself ‘just like her dad.’ That put Amanda over the top and she runs into the house crying. Allison comforts Amanda and we see her crying in the bathtub later (90 minutes later actually - she hid in the Diary Room for over an hour and a half - but that isn’t shown).
Alone with Parker Amanda looks for sympathy. Parker gives Amanda a hug.
–COMMERCIAL–
How far are Ryan and Jen willing to go to stay in the house? Jen is seen telling Shelia that she (Jen) wants to stay in the house more than Ryan does, she tells Shelia that Ryan is racist, that he is not happy that she once dated a black guy.
Later we see Shelia reveal to Ryan that Jen has talked badly about him, she won’t tell him what it was but he is upset that she might have said something. Shelia says that it is ugly, the Shelia reveals what Jen said to her.
Ryan tells Jen he wants to talk to her alone and confronts her about what she said. Ryan says it was a bad thing and he is sorry that she is going home. Jen puts two and two together and says that she did imply to Shelia that Ryan might have a problem with her dating a black guy - but she claims she didn’t say he was ‘a racist’ (a flashback shows that is what she said even if she didn’t mean it). Ryan goes to Parker and says he isn’t a racist, Jen is very mad that Shelia has said this saying that isn’t what she said. The arguing continues around and around.
Finally Jen and Ryan talk in the sauna room and seem to work things out a bit.
Julie talks to the House Guests (HGs).
Shelia says she and Adam are a match made in heaven, Adam says they are working ok together.
Jen tells Ryan that she loves Ryan and he says the same to her.
Julie asks if the HGs think there are any other couples and only three say they are confident there aren’t any.
Voting details….. the couples get one vote - they must agree or they risk being vote out themselves (I have no clue).
Couples discuss who should stay /go : Natalie/Matt say that Allison &Ryan should go. Chelsia/James say that Jen & Parker should be evicted.
–COMMERCIAL–
Julie talks to Alex and Amanda. Amanda says that she forgives Chelsia and Josh and they have apologized to her.
Alex says he thinks about his dad (who died on 9/11) every day.
Amanda says she wasn’t going to share the story of her father initially but she does not regret it now in hindsight.
As a couple… will they be able to work together as a team? Alex says they have to work as a team, as one. Amanda has lots of faith in Alex - she says they had a good conversation last night.
Julie thanks the Hgs.
Now we hear more vote talk: Joshua/Sharon don’t commit - Shelia/Adam appear to be split on their vote.
–COMMERCIAL–
Time to vote…. Or not - the voting was apparently pre-recorded. (UGGHHHHHH).
They all have a chance to talk - I am not going to try to quote 4 people - it is all just ’say nice’ stuff anyways. You can tell Jen feels like she is leaving as does Parker by what they said (see you at the finale).
Evicted by a vote of 3-1 - Jen and Parker. They get up and say goodbye.
Jen and Parker emerge holding hands, Jen is crying a little.
Back in the house everyone kind of stands around and watches the faces on the memory wall go to gray.
Julie talks to Jen and Parker.
Jen says that is she could do it all over again she wishes that Ryan had not told Allison.
Parker isn’t very talkative, “It is what it is.”
Hgs say goodbye on tape, Allison kinda bawls out Jen for her attitude, Ryan says goodbye to Jen.
Julie reminds them they won $5,000 for being the ‘power couple.’
Looks like the HoH competition will be a quiz where both partners participate.

Big Brother Democracy is the quiz. They answer how they think the majority will answer. Each answer has a reward or a consequence.
Lose for 72 hours - Hot Food or Hot Water?
Hot Water - no hot water for 72 hours.
Majority rather see women in bathing suits or the guys favorite outfits.
Bathing Suits - next 24 hours - all answered that.
Lose for one week - easting utensils or drinking cups?
Drinking cups - no cups for a week.
Margarita Party or Outdoor Grill?
All say Margarita Party - so they will get that.
Men serve breakfast in bed or women cook dinner for a week.
Women cook dinner - Chelsia and James in the lead.
2 weeks without work out equiptment or washing machine?
Washing Machine - Chelsia and James are HoH.
Final score - Chelsia/James - 6 Ryan/Allison and Sharon/Joshua - 5 Matt/Natalie and Shelia/Adam - 4
–COMMERCIAL–
Chelsia and James are very excited to be HoH - Chelsia hates their old bed.
Allison says now she won’t feel bad for talking to Ryan with Jen out of the house.
That wraps up the show. Bathing suits for the ladies for the next three days! lol
