EPISODE 1 "Reap What You Sow" - Part 1

3/1/04:  The show premires with an intro of each cast member.  Rules are explained.  They each get $4,000 a week in the form of 4 gold coins.  If they leave on their own they get nothing, if they get kicked out they keep half (Ed note - I think they can keep it all if they have lasted 10 weeks or longerat the time they are banished).  They are also shown the Green Apple which can bring good or evil.  Craig announces he is the only person with a girlfriend at home.  Mary makes a comment about there being so many "black people" on the island (just more than she has ever been around), a comment that seems fine with Khalilah but offends Michael. 

Next we see two of the girls rating the guys, it seems that they have nicknamed Craig "Hercules."  Next Ruth meets with the men and explains the Apple of Eden - they will decide which women receives the Apple, meaning she is the least desirable.  The men discuss the women amongst themselves and then talk to some of the women as well.  Again Mary makes comments about Michael - she apologizes for sounding ignorant yet Michael tells the others he is very offended. 

The next scene shows Kassie calling Jordan short to another girl - Jordan overhears the comment and confronts Kassie about it - she admits she did it and he says it would be like him calling someone "fatty."  Craig and Michael are then shown discussing Mary and her racial faux pas.  Craig goes to talk to Mary and warn her that she needs to try to mix better with the others - he doesn't seem to tell her about her comments - it seems he just tells her she is standing out because she is so attractive.  The men all seemed convinced that by giving someone the green apple they will be sent home (note - Ruth did NOT say that is what would happen).  The men and women are shown eating breakfast separately, then a green apple is delivered to one of the women's room with a card that says "do not open."  The women notice the 'voting' from afar but are unsure what is up.

Mary is the recipient of the apple - Ruth informs her by phone that this time the apple brings evil.  She is to meet Ruth with the others that night.  Matt talks to Kassie about the apple - lies to her and tells her that they had no control over her getting it - we are shown a flashback where it is revealed that Matt was one of the people that voted for Mary.  The guys now start to feel that Mary may have control over who goes.

That evening they gather for a banishment at the "Banishment Temple" - Ruth tells them the women outnumber the men.  Mary is brought forward and Ruth talks about the apple being evil this week and that the men voted her the least desirable.  Ruth tells them men to reveal their votes, one by one they say they voted for Mary.  They are then told to explain why they voted the way they did.  Mary is told it is now her turn to seek her revenge.

After a commercial break we again see Mary - much like Paradise Hotel - they re-play the last few seconds.  Mary is told that she has 24 hours to choose one man to banish.  Mary decides to be alone - the guys and other ladies all discuss the situation.  Shawna goes to talk to Mary, tells Mary that David is sick to his stomach.  Cut back to the guys who are discussing the situation, Matt says he is not going to plead to stay.  Mary then re-joins the others.  We see Matt reflecting on the fact that he was pretty negative towards Mary.

No one is banished tonight but from the teasers for the next show we see a new man arriving.
