6/29/04 Episode 2 - The show begins with the ladies and "Jack" (Vadim Dale) heading off downstream in the boats we saw at the end of episode 1. THe girls are not good at handling their boats and are very squeemish (surprise surprise) at all the spiders and other critters alond the stream. When they reach a section of rapids it appears that all the boats capsize. Jack 'saves' a couple of the ladies from floating too far down the river. He has the ladies put the boats on shore and says they need to cross the river to get to the next camp. They form a human chain and cross the stream with the apparent "threat" of crocs everywhere.... well - at least the ladies thought there were and we saw several shots of crocs - but of course we didn't see any shots of the crocs AND the girls in the same shot ;) . The next day the girls and
Jack head off to his friends farm and met Sharon - according to Jack a
real "outback woman." Sharon quizzes the girls on their thoughts
on Jack and encourages them to prove themselves to Jack - she says that
the women in the outback provide for their men - prepare good meals and
such. This of course is leading up to the fishing competition to
come later.
Alone with some of the other ladies Adriene talks about Marissa's tactics and the others seem to agree that she was playing rough. To the camera Marissa says she is going to do what she has to do to win and that apparently includes playing rough. While the 'winners' prepare for their date we watch Mary, Marissa, Maria and Natalie gut and clean the fish as instructed by Jack. Mary has shown up dressed in what Jack calls her best "date" attire. Maria relates she will never eat sushi again. The dinner takes place in this cool little tree house that seems to be over the water. The girls discuss Shannon's thoughts on the need for a woman to take care of her man - asking if that is how he feels. He replies that it can be true with some men in the outback but its not so with him, he prefers to take care of the ladies and feels he has been doing that all along. The 'losers' deliver the food and after the others have finished Jack dismisses all but Adriene and that get a little 'alone time' which ends in at least one kiss. Back at the camp the girls discuss Adriene and that she might be asking questions that are a bit too forward at this point in the game (do you want to have kids, etc). While they are talking Jack and Adriene approach and they are holding hands which every girl notices. Marissa tells the camera that Adriene may think she has an advantage but the night is not over yet. JD appears and reveals that Jack must send home two women in the morning. The girls have one last chance to talk to Jack so each takes her turn with Jack. Maria is first and I swear she says the same stuff she said the last time (I've had so much fun, and want to get to know 'you' (Jack) more. Mary does not sing this time - she tells Jack she wants to get to know him better and learn things like his sign and favorite color (gotta love Mary). Marissa brings up her illness from the last show and thanks him for taking care of her. The other girls speak - nothing major is said. Jack is shown pondering his decision and later in the evening Marissa is shown meeting Jack alone - she explains to the camera that she waited for the girls to go to sleep and then asked Jack to go for a walk. We see her meet up with Jack and then the two are shown in an embrace kissing. The director/producers are nice enough to throw in a shot of a snake for those of us too slow to figgure out that MArissa is not being portrayed as the "bad girl." Marissa tells the camera that at this point its a game and she is going to fight if she has to (for Jack). In the morning the girls walk to another riverbank which seems very similar to the firsts - but waiting this time are four "bull catchers" (4x4 vehicles) and JD tells the ladies there is only room for six so two women must be eliminated. As any of these types of shows go Jack then rambles on and calls each woman forward in turn, and in a very confusing manner asks them to stay or leave. In the end Jack eliminates Harmonie and Shannon. He seems rather shaken at having to eliminate Shannon and Shannon admits she jsut could not open up to Jack, in part because of the cameras. The teaser for the next episode implies that the remaining women may get to vote one of their own off next episode. |
