# ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ Nanny 911 (FOX): Fox and ABC really seem to have it in for each other lately - here is a show about nanny's - similar to Supernanny seen on ABC. I will give the creators of these shows credit for one thing - its one of the first reality shows my wife actually likes. Nashville Star (USA): County's answer to Americal Idol. If you like the concept but are a country fan check it out. Buddy Jewell won the 1st season. Just like American Idol you get to call in and vote. Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica (MTV): Mannnnn sorry Jessica but you need to get a few clues. Here is MTV's blurb, "Love is an uphill battle no matter who you are. Newly nuptualized pop stars Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson have more than the average couple to deal with: auditioning sexy dancers, throwing parties for high-profile friends, getting used to each others voluble bodily functions and, oh yeah, an MTV crew following their every move. Newlyweds trails the lovebirds from bathroom to recording studio." I'm telling ya - I have watched this show - and most of the time I just shake my head at both of them. Next Action Star (NBC): I thought this show was scrapped long ago but apparently NBC is dusting it off and it will run during the summer of 2004. A blurb from a production site, "This co-production with NBC & Silver Pictures searches the country for America's next male and female action stars. The winners, chosen through competition and voting, will star in an action film produced by Silver Pictures titled Hit Me." 10 one hour episodes and a two-hour finale as far as I know. (I only caught a couple of episodes - not even sure if it made it through the whole run or was cancelled). The Next Great Champ (Fox): "Young, raw boxers with potential to become a top prizefighter. The hopefuls will push themselves to the limit as they train and slug it out in hopes of winning every fighter’s ultimate dream – a possible shot at a titleholder and a professional contract with De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions " - the show was moved to a Fox sport channel to finish its run after bad ratings. Now Who's Boss? (TLC): Exectutives spend time doing some of the lower-level employee's jobs. The One That Got Away (NBC): One guy (Skipper Kress) reunites with seven women he has been formerly involved with to see if there is a chance to restart a relationship with any of them. A one-time two-hour special. Airing (Aired) 5/31/04 Osbornes(MTV): In what I believe is the last season the Osbornes let the cameras back in their house for one more go round of <bleep>ing reality. Outback Jack (TBS): 12 women travel to the Austrailian outback to compete for the man of their dreams. This show is described as a comedy and the women as "high maintenance" - I'm liking the concept!! Premires 6/22/04. Overhaulin'
(TLC): "Snatches driveway junkers and transforms them into custom show
cars!"
Paradise Hotel (FOX): Take an odd number of men and women (the 1st week had 6 women and 5 men), then force them to pair up leaving one out in the cold for the week. The odd man(woman) out at the end of a week is eliminated so he/she must try to gain the favor of one of the "attached" folks so they dump their partner for him/her. Then a new person of the opposite sex replaces the eliminated person and around we go again. There were all kinds of twists thrown in. In the end of season one 3 of the 4 finalists won money. Only Dave was left with nothing thanks to Charla keeping 250k. Being as I liked this show a lot I am going to try to add a few links. The hotel used in the show: Spanish Link, Translated Link - Cast member links: Keith Cuda, Dave Kerpen, Tara Gerard, Charla, Matt Cehi (all I have so far) - Other Paradise Hotel Sites: Paradise Hotel 2 (Not an official site). (official page offline 1/04) The Partner (Fox): "A team of "book smart" Ivy League graduates will compete against a team of "street smart" lawyers from less prestigious schools until one of them wins a job in a major law firm. Each week, the dueling lawyers will serve as prosecutors or defenders in mock trials based on highly charged cases. A jury of lay people – selected by the contestants – will determine the winner of each trial. Then the losers go on trial – defending their performance before a celebrity "judge," who will decide which individual will be thrown out of court. The last two lawyers standing will go head-to-head to argue a final blockbuster case." Coming Sundays - Fall 2004 (update - I haven't a clue whats up with this show - but it sure sounds like the street smarts vs book smarts idea was taken by Trump and The Apprentice. Perfect match (ABC - Family): "Perfect Match: New York is a show looking at relationships and dating, but unlike other shows, you won't be doing the choosing. Instead, you have to rely on a panel, made up of the people who know you best. Along with a professional matchmaker, the panel could include your mom, dad, best friend or sister, and they'll be picking your Perfect Match: New York out of numerous eligible potential partners." Casting Perfect Proposal (TLC): I haven't seen it but this show is on almost every day on TLC. It is also always casting much like other TLC shows. Casting Performing As (FOX): People perfom as famous musical stars - best one wins....not my cup of tea. (dead web site) Pimp My Ride (MTV): Some lucky kid gets their junky car overhauled and turned in to an amazing new vehicle. The Player (UPN): "UPN'S THE PLAYER, a competition to find America's smoothest operator. In this funny, sexy series, a group of young, attractive self-described "players" will test their abilities, loyalties and charm with the opposite sex to determine who among them is the ultimate player. Along the way, we'll discover whether a player can find true love in a bling-bling world of mansions, cool cars and VIP parties." from the official site. Rob from Survivor was the 'player operator' and made a cameo on the final show. The winner (whose name escapes me and it really doesn't matter - took the 'bling bling' over the girl thus playing her. Playing it Straight (Fox): ** 3/31/04 - This show has been placed on hiatus after 3 episodes and will apparently return in the summer. Please see my Playing it Straight page for more details. --- Looks like this show is similar to Boy Meets Boy - but instead of a man choosing from a pool of straight and gay men it is a woman (Jackie) choosing. At the end of each show we will find out who she did not choose and then if they are gay or straight. if she chooses a gay guy he gets One Million, if she chooses a straight guy they split One Million. Popularity Contest (CMT): "CITY SLICKERS VIE TO BECOME THE MOST POPULAR NEW RESIDENT IN A TINY TEXAS TOWN IN THE NEW CMT SERIES "POPULARITY CONTEST" (From a press release - no site yet) - premires April 2005. Project Runway (Bravo): Even if you aren't into fasion this was a pretty good show. Several aspiring fasion designers competed for prizes and fame. Jay McCarroll won season one - no idea if there will be any future seasons. Pros and Cons (The good, the bad, and the ugly) (TLC): Similar to "Faking It" - this is yet another UK import where someone - usually a couple of people - need to hire a professional (wedding planner, designer, etc) and get to choose between a real pro (the good), someone who may have a little experience but sucked at it (the bad), and someone who has no experience (the ugly). I enjoyed what I have seen of it. Queer Eye for the Straight Girl(Bravo): The "Fab Five" will not be part of this version. Toss one lesbian into the mix of the makeover specialists. Queer
Eye for the Straight Guy(Bravo & NBC): Five gay
men, makeover a straight guy. It reminds me a lot of What
Not To Wear over on TLC. I think a year ago it would have REALLY
been a ground breakign kinda show - today it seems like just one of many.
I do enjoy it when I catch it though. Possibly still Casting.
