Reality Show Hosts Page

Show names are linked to the show's official website!!  Casting info (if any) can be found on the Casting Page.

R's

Race to the Altar (NBC): Eight couples perfom various stunts as they compete to see who will get a dream wedding. One couple eliminated each week.  They moved this show around and I lost track of it.  I think it ended up on Saturdays - not a good night for Reality TV.  Casting for season II.

Rally Round The House (Disc): "Within every neighborhood is a house in need of some tender loving care that perhaps the homeowners have not been able to provide. Rally finds these homes when neighbors nominate a deserving homeowner for a makeover and volunteer to help make it happen." Casting

The Real Beverly Hillbillies (CBS): This series proposed to transplant an Appalachian family to Beverly Hills.  After much uproar it has still never been made.  E! Online story from 2002.  A similarly themed show is scheduled for Fall 2004 on NBC titled "The High Life."

The Real Roseanne Show (ABC): Yup Roseanne does 'reality."  Her former 1st husband and his new wife will also be on the show.  It will follow her as she develops and pitches a cooking/lifestyle show titled "Domestic Goddess" which will then be shown on ABC Family. Its set to begin August 6th 2003 from last reports. (I think it was canceled after 2 shows - maybe it will come back later).

Real World (MTV): In my book the "grand daddy" of reality shows.  As with almost all MTV 'reality' shows, this one puts seven people in a cool house in a cool location and films them for several months. Casting Link

Road Rules (MTV): Real World on wheels.  Oh and they get prizes!!  To spice things up the produces recently added the threat of elimination to cast members if they fail at certain challenges. Casting Link

The Ross Show (Bravo):  Ross the intern from Jay Leno's show gets his own show on Bravo.  As of this writing (4/04) they were casting for people to be on the show.

Real World/Road Rules Challenge (MTV): Just what it looks like - former cast members from both shows come together and battle it out for cash and prizes.

The Restaurant (NBC):  "Do you want to get a seat at New York City's newest hip restaurant? From Mark Burnett, the creator of "Survivor," and Ben Silverman who brought you "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire", comes their latest show "The Restaurant.""  Season 2 was/is a bit of a flop.  Re-running on Wednesdays on Bravo - check Bravo for times.

Rock Star(???):  Mark Burnett has announced a reality show he intends to have which will help select a new singer for a un-named (apparently well known) band.  Still up for bids by the broadcast companies.

S's

Second Chance at Love (NBC) : Not sure what happened - the casting link dissapeared.

Sell This House (A&E): "SELL THIS HOUSE™ gets inside the mind of the buyer and the heart of the seller with real life experiences and great advice on how to prepare your house for the market. Each week features homeowners desperate to sell and prospective buyers secretly videotaped as they express their observations upon first seeing the house. Enter a real estate and home decoration expert who recommends changes. In the end, the house is transformed (on a budget) and the buyers are brought back. Will the house sell? For how much? To whom? You'll learn the answers as participants experience the ups and downs of SELL THIS HOUSE™." (From the official site).

Showbiz Moms and Dads (Bravo): "This seven-part series shines the spotlight on real-life stage moms and dads and their wannabe child stars as they make their way along the unpredictable road to fame. The unblinking camera follows hopeful child actors as they strive for careers in commercials, on the Broadway stage and in Hollywood, capturing the ups and downs of a professional life in show business." (from the official site).  I have seen an episode and I liked it - a "day in the life" type of reality show.

The Simple Life (FOX):  Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie live on a farm for a month.  This show was a big hit - Second season begins June 16th 2004. My Simple Life page.  And this show continues....  I stopped watching during season 2.

Sorrority Life (MTV): Watch a group of women go through the trials and tribulations of rushing a sorrority.  Oh and like Fraternity Life they get to live in a cool pad provided by the folks at MTV.

Soundmix(Fox): "Amateur performers will have the chance to sing in their own voices in front of a live studio audience, all the while looking just like their favorite musical superstar. Each week, a winner will be crowned, receive a cash prize and be qualified to return for the finale, where they will compete for a grand prize." (From Fox)

Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Model Search (NBC): Women compete to be in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue (wow - makes sense huh?).  Another show I never saw, just too busy, but sounds a lot like America's Next Top Model now doesn't it?  Some model named "Alicia" won.

Star Search (Season 3) (CBS): "Show me the digits" - CBS ressurected this show and added a phone poll as a way to put it up against American Idol.  The concept worked, Star Search pushed Amazing Race out of its March 2003 run as they started a second "season."  As of this writing (4/22/04) I have no information on a possible Season 4 of this version.  Season One Page, Season Two Page

Starting Over (Syndicated):  From Bunim/Murray (Real World) comes this show.  Blurb from their site, "Set in Chicago, this new daytime reality series will follow an ever changing group of diverse and captivating women as they attempt to make extraordinary changes in their lives – all while living under the same roof."  Casting info is included on the page.  Listed as starting September 8th.  Originally this show was slated to be on NBC but now I guess it is syndicated.  You can look HERE to find out when it is on in your area. Note: This show has become pretty popular with some - I am told the discussion board at the official site leaves something to be desired - I would reccomend  you check out the TVCH discussion area for this show HERE.

Studio 7 (WB): "Pits seven bright young adults against each other. Seven grueling elimination rounds test their knowledge of pop culture, world events, science, and literature. Only one can win a large cash prize. The catch is that the contestants will also be roommates for one week in one of Manhattan's most luxurious apartments."   FREE TICKET INFO!!!  Casting

Supernanny(ABC): "Television's newest superhero can tame the wildest toddler, soothe the savage six-year-old and get the most difficult child to overcome problems with behavior, sleep, mealtime, potty training and other challenges that have vexed parents around the world for centuries. This miracle worker is Jo Frost, a.k.a. Supernanny, Britain's hottest new TV star and godsend to desperate parents across the U.K. who were dazzled by her amazing results when her series debuted this summer, as she showed families the tools for transforming their children's wild ways. Her practical, no-nonsense style was honed over 15 years of nannying in the U.K. and the U.S. Now American families can tap into the secrets of this modern-day Mary Poppins."  (Blurb from the official website) -

Superstar USA (WB): A sort of "spoof" on American Idol - the folks will be 'bad' but the people making the show will pretend they are good.  Here is a great story on the show which will begin May 17th, 2004 and run seven episodes - possibly two a week. Original Casting Page

Surf Girls(MTV):  Female surfers compete for a chance to join a profesional surf team.

Surprise By Design (DSC): Designers redesign a room on a budget….

Surreal Life (VH1 - VH1): "Celebrities" live together a la "Real World" - A fun show if you remember to watch it.  Corey Feldman may be back for another go round….. Lucky us….  Season II ran in Jan. 2004 - Cory was NOT back as was rumored - here is the list of the cast for season II: Televangelist Tammy Faye Messner (Baker), Rob Van Winkle (Vanilla Ice), porn star Ron Jeremy, MTV Real World Las Vegas's Trishelle, Baywatch's Traci Bingham, and Erik Estrada (CHiPs). WB has apparently not bought a 3rd season but VH1 has.  VH1 "Season 3" will begin September 9th, 2004.   Website for Season One

Surviving Nugent (VH1): A two hour show where Ted decided who won - winner got $50,000.

Surviving Nugent: The Ted Commandments (VH1):  "Surviving Nugent puts The Motor City Madman in charge. Throughout four episodes, ten contestants will battle it out for a hundred grand in cash and prizes.one of which is a 1936 cherry-red, Chevy Street Rod-think ZZ Top car.  The contestants' only obstacle? Ted.  Hide from Ted. Suck up to Ted. Do whatever you want to Ted. In the end, every decision is entirely up to Ted-who wins, who loses, who stays, who goes, who eats, who doesn't. If Ted doesn't like the way you smell, you're gone. If Ted thinks you talk too much, he's whacking you off." (from the official page)  The pize is $100,000

Survivor (CBS): Sooner or later we will all have either tried out for this show or know someone that has.  My brother works with a 'cast' member (Amazon) in real life.  And gee - he also worked with the fiance (now husband) of a cast member from Pearl Island (No-Joke!).   Probably the best edited reality show, and the host Jeff Probst is excellent.  If you don't know what goes on on this show what in the world are you doing on a site about reality tv??  Season 7 is just finishing (has finished) - applications being accepted for Season 9 through Jan 27th 2004 (Season 8 is the "All Star" version).  Casting PageSurvivor Ebay Items. The Swan (FOX): "a ground-breaking reality show that offers participants the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change their lives – to undergo a FULL-LIFE MAKEOVER, in order to make their dreams come true." From the web site - remind you of Extreme Makeover? Check My Swan Page for any addition info including casting news.

The Swap (ABC): Coming in the fall 2004 to ABC.  Two wives swap households for two weeks.  This show has been in the works for over a year - here is part of an article from January 2003 on the initial casting, "The women are expected to follow the house rules for the first week--sticking to the cleaning, cooking and child-rearing schedule set by the original woman of the house. The new wife can then lay down her own set of rules the following week. "  Full Story

Switched (ABC - Family): "Complete strangers trade personal spaces and familiar faces to inhabit each other's daily routine."  (From the site) Casting
