December 2003
(more archives)

I took off the second half of December 2003 - so there were not updates of the "news" page.

12/15/03  The big Ebay auction of Survivor items has begun.  As I did for the last Survivor I set up a page to display just those items (and not all the other junk that is similar but not authentic).  You can find it here:  Survivor Charity Ebay.

Congrats to Sandra on her win - the "reunion" show was ok - not a whole lot new was learned except maybe that according to Jeff - none of them knew about Jon's lie about his grandmother until after the fact.  Also according to the Jury members, if Lill had taken Jon instead of Sandra she would have won (of course we don't know that for sure - they can say whatever they likeat this point).  Rupert was in good spirits and since I really liked him on the show it was nice to see him.

12/14/03 It is Survivor final night - its running late here because of 60 minutes and the capture of Saddam Hussein.

The final show...  mini-recap on the fly..

Segment #1: Recap of everything leading up to this show....
>>>commercial<<<
Segment #2: Jeff brings the survivors breakfast, delivers letters from home - no competition - they just get to read them.  Jon plots to secure a spot in the final three (uses Lill's emotions over the letters against her).  Lill plots as well.  Matter of fact - all four plot.  Lill, Sandra Jon agree to vote off Darrah.  Darra, Sandra and Jon agree to vote off Lill.  Treemail - immunity challenge teased.
>>>commercial<<<
Segment #3: Immunity challenge at the tribal council - ut oh - its complicated... the Jury gets to compete in the immunity challenge.  Pirate trivia.  The five member jury gets to compete as a group.  If the jury wins there is no immunity.  ...... Jury wins immunity (won the quiz).  Voting proceeds with everyone eligible after discussing the letters, strategy, plotting, etc.  Jon's vote not revealed.... Lill votes for Darrah..... Darrah votes for Lill.... Sandra's vote not revealed.  Darrah voted out 3-1.  Darrah's parting words - calls Jon and Lill 'snakes.'  Says that Lill pretends she doesn't know the game but she does.
>>>commercial<<<
Segment #4: They all agree that it was best to vote off Darrah.  Lill seems to think it was all Darrah's idea to vote her off.  Treemail arrives in the middle of the night.  Immunity challenge begins around sunrise.  The three remaining Survivors arrive on a beach and pay final tribute to the survivors that were voted off by putting their extinguished torches on a wooden 'pirate' ship on the beach and igniting it after saying something nice about their former tribemates (oohhh the drama - zzzzzzz).  Boy - if you need to take a bathroom break - that would be the perfect time.
>>>commercial<<<
Segment#5: Final challenge - the three survivors are set on individual rafts - if their butt or knees touch the raft they are eliminated.  All three assume crouching positions with hands on the rafts in front of them.  Sandra loses her balance and is eliminated (around 15 minutes in).  Jon tries to work a deal with Lill and she refuses.  30 minutes in - Jon continues to try to talk Lill into it - Lill explains she does aerobics (stamina, balance, etc).  2 hours in - Jon STILL tries to bargain with Lill.  John almost falls.  2 hours 45 minutes Jon loses it.  Lill wins immunity - she looked like she could have gone for hours more.  Segment ends with Lill being told she has the afternoon to decide whom to take with her to the final tribal council.
>>>commercial<<<
Segment #6: Jon and Sandra push Lill to have themselves brought along with her to finals.  Jon uses the "everyone hates me" angle (just like Will in Big Brother II), Lill is concerned that Sandra has a lot of friends on the Jury.  Sandra thinks Lill will take Jon, Jon thinks Lill will take him.  Cut to tribal council.  Rehash of the torch burning (ho hum), recap of the immunity challenge - Sandra talks of how strong Lill was.  Lill discusses the things she has to consider when choosing the person to go with her to the finals.  Lill chooses to vote out Jon and bring Sandra with her to the finals.  She said before the vote she was voting to keep the person she felt she could beat.   Jon leaves - parting words about how he was proud of himself, made it far, glad his grandmother is at home watching, glad he was the last man voted out.
>>>commercial<<<
Segment #7: Sandra and Lill reflect on the past - Lill explains why she took Sandra (gameplay and fairness).  Morning comes, many pretty images as we prepare to see the final two go up against each other....  (BORING!!!!).  Sandra points out she has never received a vote.  Sandra feels it will be a 3-4 vote.  More images and mood music.  Now we see the various Jury members talking to the camera about their feelings on voting and the two remaining people (with still more music and images of Lill and Sandra rowing).  FINALLY we see the tribal council...  Sandra makes her opening statement, then Lill and we go to commercial.
>>>commercial<<<
Segment #8: Q & A session with the Jury.
Ryan points out Sandra was 'out of the game' for 8 days.  He asks Sandra about 'riding' coat-tails.
Rupert asks Lill about he violating the rules of scouting that she lied, asks he if she was ever truthful him, she replies that until Burton came to her she was.  Sandra explains to Rupert that she did not know he was going to be voted off when it happened.
"T" asks both why the other does not deserve to win.  Lill says she felt there were times Sandra disrespected people and she did ride 'coat tails.'  Sandra says Lill voted for every person on that Jury and she didn't.
Christa asks Lill why she hid behind the "Boy Scout Oath."  Lill said she didn't, she was stuck in the uniform and has spent 16 years in the scouts.  She asks Sandra about her 'crazyiest' scheme - Sandra discusses when she and "T" listened in on Burton and Jon.
Burton asks on a scale of 1-10 where they stand with their survival skills.  Sandra gives herself a 5.  Lill gives herself a 7 (better skills).
Darrah asks them to explain how they made it to the final 2.  Sandra says she was not the biggest fish - she was always willing to give up her vote to continue on.  Lill says she was never seen as a threat and she followed along, but she also used her own head.
Jon - asks if he can vote 'none of the above' - then to the ladies - asks Sandra how she feels she represented "Puerto Ricans."  Sandra feels she did fine.  Asks Lill how she represented Boy Scouts - calls her on her 'truthfulness' - Lill says the game has noting to do with honor or integrity - she would not have worn the uniform given the chance.  She says she does not represent the Scouts very well.
Cut to commercial before Lill and Sandra say their final words.
>>>commercial<<<
Segment #9:  Sandra's final statement - she feels she didn't lie or deceive - that she was who she was, she expressed herself openly even when she cussed people out.  Lill - says the Boy Scout's uniform was an easy target - she would not wear it if she was given the chance again.  She points out that it is one night, she will be going back to the 75 kids she helps and will explain that it was just a game.  Voting commences - 1st vote revealed - Rupert votes for Sandra.... "T" votes for Lill.  Those are the only two votes revealed during voting.  Jeff comes back and announces he will see them "on the other side" - cut to a sound stage (no pretending this time as with other Survivors).  Jeff reveals the votes.
Sandra wins 6-1. (I am not re-capping the 'reunion show')

12/12/03 Thursday night:  I taped Survivor and then ended up finding out Burton got the axe before I watched it - but it didn't take away from the enjoyment of the show.  I think it was much less of a surprise to Burton than CBS wanted us to think (Earlier they showed Jon warning Burton that he thought they might be going after him).  I also wonder if the ladies threw the luxury competition knowing Jon and Burton would leave and they could conspire with each other.  Sunday is the final show (2 hours) with the "Reunion" show after.  I always like waching the final vote to see if I can tell when they switch from the tape to the live portion during the final vote.  I am betting that Jon may make it to the final two.  If he does I think he should win (a la Richard from Survivor 1 and Will from Big Brother 2), but I suspect that the Jury will hold too much of a grudge.  Unless Lil wins immunity don't expect her to make it, everyone seems to think she is unbeatable so no one will want to bring her to the final two.
 Jon Dalton
 Lillian "Lill" Morris
 Sandra Diaz-Twine
 Darrah Johnson

Two 'teasers' from the Survivor Newsletter about the final show:

  • Letters from home bring a Survivor to tears, but one tribemate sees it as an opportunity to turn the rest of the tribe against that person.
  • A twist in the final stretch brings an unexpected battle for the Final Four.
One other note - it was interesting to see Burton's parting words and his comments that Lill had broken an alliance...  sounds like sour grapes to me since Burton had voted for Lill ;)

Wednesday:  No, I didn't watch much of Trista & Ryan's Wedding, I just couldn't get into it.  I did see the part where they claimed the wedding cost something like 3.5 million $ (much of it was supplied as a form of product placement I'm sure).  Maybe some people enjoyed the whole show but for me it was just ho-hum and wondering if they will last the year to make the million dollars they were promised my ABC (a better question is will they make it 2 years).

From Tuesday:  Yes, I watch The Simple Life, sad but true - and I even enjoy it.  Now I don't buy for a minute that its "reality" - I suspect the director/producers were prodding Paris and Nicole into doing most of the suff they do at their various jobs.  But its good for a chuckle.

12/09/03 "Average Joe" loses out....

Jason
Melana
Adam
On Average Joe last night - was there any doubt?  You could hear Melana constantly saying how Adam was what "any girl would want in a guy." She forgot to add the, "except me" part.  Yup Melana chose the model/waiter/26 year-old college student Jason over the 'average joe'/millionaire (revealed last night)/27 year-old Adam.  She said  all kinds of nice and wonderful things about Adam before sending him off on the shuttle bus and jumping on an exectutive jet with Jason and flying off to a secluded resort away from the cameras so they could get to know each other better.  Based on the 'dates' we saw of these two that would have consisted of the two of them snuggling under a blanket talking about what kinds of pets they like and Jason re-assuring Melana that he "really does" like her  - whoo hooo!!!

Jason and Melana will be on Jay Leno tonight - not sure about Adam.  I am sure Adam will make out swell as lots of ladies will be knocking on his door - just hope he can weed out the ones that only want to meet him because of his 'fame' and $$$.  As I said earlier - the second season is in the can and was previewed last night - it will premire on January 5th.

That all being said..  back to "reality" -

Tonight you can catch episode #2 of "The Simple Life" where we will see Paris and whats-her-name (ok - its Nicole Richie - but I had to look up her name) will go to work at a fast-food place.  For those completely out of the loop - Paris has been all the talk with the internet-release of a 2 minute sex-tape of her and an ex-b/f.  Today comes this word via the Chicago Sun-Times

"MORE OF PARIS? No comment from her people, but one of my best Hollywood sources swears there's yet another Paris Hilton sex video -- beyond the "girl-on-girl" tape we've already heard rumblings about.   The hotel heiress turned reality TV star reportedly was filmed romping with two hunky Abercrombie & Fitch models, and "it's a LOT hotter than that pretty boring tape she made with Rick Salomon," according to the source." (Link)
Sounds like rumors to make sure the show gets more pub if you ask me (and see? it worked!!).

Other than that Queer Eye for the Straight Guy would be the remaining "reality" show to catch - two episodes are tonight wrapped around a new edition of "Celebrity Poker" on Bravo.  Oh, and a new episode of Rich Girls on MTV.

OOOOOORRRRRRRR  you could just scrap Reality TV for the night and tune into the classic "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" on CBS.

Happy viewing!!!

Tommorow Night: Trista & Ryan's Wedding<sniff sniff> apparently the wedding was this past weekend.

12/08/03  The Discovery Store is running a couple of specials - (thats where you can get things related to Trading Spaces,  Junkyard Wars, American Chopper and more).

Celebrity Mole 2 will premire January 14th on ABC.

Did you watch Bachelor 4 with Bob?  Remember Meredith who took Bob to her grandmother's grave and then was eliminated? Well she will supposebly be the next Bachelorette which premires Jan 14th.

America's Next Top Model 2 will premire on UPN on Jan 13th.  Adrianne Curry won the during the 1st season of this show.

Trump 'Apprentice' debut set for Jan. 8th on NBC.  Link to complete story.

12/06/03 Nashville Star 2 is currently holding open auditions - time is running out - here is a LINK to the audition map - the link will also be posted on the Casting page.  Season Premire is March 6th - here is a link to an article.

Added some show info (King of the Jungle) and casting links and show info for Extreme Makeover - Home Edition

12/05/03 New Casting Info for a show on the Discovery Channel.  See the Casting Page for details.

12/04/03 I had another busy day - I created 2 random quote generators.  Whats that?  Well in the Big Brother I area there is one that generates random quotes from Curtis every time you load the page.  In the main Big Brother area (and eventually the BB4 area) there is one that generates on of 40+ quotes from BB4 contestants.

I am also updating the show links on the right and other pages.  I plan on uploading the TVCH BB4 Live Feed archives soon to go along with the archives from BBI,II and III.

Survivor - Adios Christa.  Yup - she's gone - I am hoping the previews are right and the girls band together and toss either Jon or Burton.  We shall see.

12/03/03 Well - what a busy few weeks for me....  I have had a busy evening though so let me try to fill you in.

I spent this evening watching shows and updating my "Shop" - I have tracked down many new items that you can get out there including Bob's (Bachelor IV) new CD and his book, Clay's (American Idol) new single as well as the holiday CD fromt he AI folks, and a couple new Trading Spaces and Survivor items including a book by Ty.

Top new show I have watched the last couple of weeks has to be "Average Joe" - although I wasn't pleased when they brought in the 3 model type guys to mix things up.  Now its down to one average guy and one of the models.  This week Melana dressed up in a 'fat' suit and posed as her cousin.  The end result was that she booted one of the average guys (Zach) because of the way he made fun of her weight.  I suspect that in the finale next week she will pick the non-average guy - but they just might be leading us on that thats the way its going to end.  Either way there is no "commitment" at the end of this show.

Survivor has seen the loss of Ryan, Rupert and Tijuana - Jon REALLY irked some folks by pretending his grandmother had died - the ploy worked and gained him some sympathy.  Hey the guy is playing the game with the same cold-heartedness that a certain member (and eventual winner) of Big Brother II did - namely Will.  I am sure Jon told CBS of his plans to lie about his grandmother if he was cast and they ate it up.  So don't put all the blame on Jon.

The Bachelor IV is over - and word is that Bob and his choice are already broken up.  Boy that didn't take long.  By the way - Bob has a CD out:
cover
3 Sides

Meanwhile Trista and Ryan from Bachelorette are planning a wedding.  ABC will pay them a cool million if they stay married for a year.  I saw tonights show which included the "Bachelor" party and its pretty ho-hum if you ask me.  A lot of scripted drama from the looks of it.  I doubt I watch the final show next week which is supposed to have the wedding.

Lasty I just watched the 1st two episodes of The Simple Life - if you have seen MTV's Rich Girls then you will not see anything new on this show.  If you haven't you might check it out.  It really just goes to show that some people are REALLY IGNORANT about the majority of the population :)

Actually I also watched Extreme Home Makeover (or whatever its called) - more on that show soon as I didn't even know it existed until tonight (tonight was the premire).  Briefly - its a cool show (think of Monster House) with Ty from Trading Spaces as one of the main people.
