The 16 Big Brother house guests and more.

On Thursday we learned the identity of the 16 Big Brother house guests that will be playing this season of Big Brother.  I checked out many of their interviews and then myself, Scott( and Colette ( talked about them for two hours last night.  You should check it out when you get a chance here: Show 401. I decided to post my pre-show notes here as a way to give you an idea what I am thinking about each house guest.  I’m mostly cutting and pasting so forgive any grammar or spelling mistakes!

Amber Borzotra 26
Hometown: Knoxville, Tenn.
Says she applied, but sounds like she was recruited (or maybe her manager applied for her).  She made no mention of a boyfriend or kids.
>>>Sounds like the typical model that was thrown into the show and that could be a good or bad thing. No way will she win and if she lets it happen she could easily be one of the first voted out as happens to a lot of the ‘models.’

Brittany Martinez 29
Hometown: Long Beach, Calif.
Single – 3 kids
Recruited while at a bar 2 1/2 weeks ago. Has 3 kids but apparently not married currently.
>>>Older than average in the house and with three kids may take on a mom roll.  Casting agents saw something they liked. I didn’t see anything yet.

Caleb Reynolds 26
Hometown: Dallas, Texas
Applied for Amazing Race – was moved to Big Brother
Military background
Very conservative
Duck Dynasty fan.
>>> says he will lay low – and might have 2 or 3 showmances. If he has the right type of personality he might be able to keep quiet – his facebook/instagram posts seem to imply differently.

Christine Brecht 23
Hometown: Tucson, Ariz.
Actual fan – video and open casting call –
>>> Mentioned “Secret Alliance” Don’t like that she was a big Dan fan – but I’ll look past that if she is entertaining.  Husband follows me on twitter so he must be cool – not sure if he follows Scott yet.

Cody Calafiore 23
Hometown: Hackensack, N.J.
Model (well seen underwear)
>>> doesn’t want to go after strong competitors – rather take out the weak – he reminds me of Justin from Big Brother 4 (Allison’s ex-bf) – Justin was in the ‘four horseman’ alliance if you recall.  Just comes across as a strong physical player. Might get labeled with the ‘bully’ monicer if he isn’t careful.

Derrick Levasseur 30
Hometown: Providence, R.I.
Married – 1 child
Actual fan
>>> Says he has worked undercover (Police) and feels it will help him. Didn’t mention military background but I thought he had dog tags on – so he might link up with Caleb (which might not be a good thing – guilt by association).  Isn’t going to say he is a cop in part because of Survivor winner Tony.  Seems very down to earth – not sure that means he can win – but being a fan before he was cast may help him.

Devin Shepherd 26
Hometown: Santa Barbara, Calif.
Single – 1 child
Applied for Amazing Race – got call for Big Brother
>>> OOOzed kissing up to “America” – mentioned daughter several times.  Can’t make a call on him at all – wait to see how he comes across on the feeds because his interviews were all about saying what he thought people wanted to hear. Mentioned “honest” game – not having to lie.  Good luck with that.

Donny Thompson 42
Hometown: Albemarle, N.C.
Girlfriend – no mention of kids
Actual fan – girlfriend got him to apply
>>> The good ole boy of Big Brother 16.  Thinks he is funny and happy go lucky and that means he will go far into the season as long as he doesn’t end up in the wrong alliance.  Won’t win any physical competitions – might get lucky and win a competition of chance.

Frankie Grande 31
Hometown: Boca Raton, Fla.
Was encouraged to apply – fan of Survivor first.
>>> He’s probably going to be TV gold and knows how to perform for the camera.  His famous sibling connection is going to be a huge plus for him because CBS will want to keep him around if he brings the views.  I don’t think people in the house will know who he is.

Hayden Voss 21
Hometown: Marlborough, Mass.
>>>Checked out some of his youtube stuff and he is a character.  He will be a clown most likely and I could see him and Donny playing off each other for comic relief. How far he goes will just depend on how he fits into whatever alliance he ends up in.

Jocosta Odom 33
Hometown: Griffin, Ga.
Married – 2 kids
Actual Fan – Applied
>>> Deleted her twitter account at the beginning of the month.  I didn’t see anything bad there but I guess she didn’t want it out there.  I could see her and Caleb going at it. Mentioned an all womens alliance.

Joey Van Pelt 27
Hometown: Seattle, Wash.
Single (I think)
>>>> Claims she will do well socially.  Will know much more once the feeds start.  Could be out early or last a long time – but she won’t win it (unless she is a natural and that will come out when we see her on the feeds).

Nicole Franzel 21
Hometown: Ubly, Mich.
Actual Fan – applied 2 days b4 deadline
>>>Feed watcher – made fan t-shirts previous years – Some are comparing her to Arryn – I don’t think so – I think she may be more like Jordan, might also be like BB14 Danielle.  Unfortunatly I don’t see a Jeff in the house to help her get through.  If she finds one she might last a long time.  She is a fan of the show so points in her favor there.  She also mentioned watching what she says which imples to me she was very aware of some of the things said on the feeds last year.

Paola Shea 27
Hometown: East Hampton, Conn.
>>>Might know Gina Mari in some way. Strong personality – most likely to start a cat fight.  Will either go out fast or last a long time and piss a TON of female fans off.  I think she’s pretty business savvy (she hasn’t gotten where she is being a DJ by being as ‘dumb’ and she liked to imply in her interview). Doesnt like “Ditsy’ – so watch out Nicole and maybe Christine. All Girl Alliance (never happen)

Victoria Rafaeli 22
Hometown: Brooklyn, N.Y. and Holon, Israel
>>>Says she is a Big Brother Israel fan – which won’t help much since it it completely different from the US/Canadian version. Much like Amber I don’t think she has a clue what she is getting into.  If she hooks up with the right guy she might last a while.  I could be surprised by her once we see the live feeds.

Zach Rance 23
Hometown: Palm Beach, Fla.
Applied – not sure how much a fan he was 4.5/10
>>>Jeff said Zach seemed to be putting on a face for his interview with him.  He is either going to tear this game up – or he is going to self destruct in the first week.

Other thoughts:

Themes mentioned by several HGs (made me feel these thougths were almost being planted…) Secret Alliance – All Women Alliance.

Stats cause I’m a geek like that….
7 said they were recruited (2 guys 5 girls)
2 said they applied to AR (guys)
1 Frankie applied to Survivor and then others told him to apply to BB
6 said they were fans (3 guys 3 girls)
3 married (1 guys 2 girls)
1 mentioned g/f (Donny)
12 didn’t mention a current significant other
4 mentioned kids (2 guys 2 girls)

One last thing, if you haven’t signed up for the live feeds, please do so via this link or by clicking on a banner on the site. It would be greatly appreciated and the cost ($23.99 for the season) is the same no matter how you get to it.

Watch the Big Brother 16 premiere live from anywhere.

(This applies for Big Brother 17 as well!  One warning – I noticed if you get in late the channel is FULL and you can’t watch – so get on early!)

The Big Brother 16 premiere is June 25th and every season I have people that live West of the Mississippi (or elsewhere in the world even) frantically asking me how they can watch Big Brother on CBS live as it airs to those of us in the Eastern or Central time zones.  Up until this year I have tried to tweet out a link to one of a couple online web streams of questionable origin that may disappear at any moment.

This past winter I began to entertain the idea of ‘cutting the cord’ as more and more people are doing and so I started to take inventory of my options for watching certain television programs via a means other than my local cable company (I, like many, am not really close to a strong over the air HDTV TV signal).

Most of what I found so far is a story for another time and website (my site SoLongCable is just sitting there waiting for me to start writing!) – but one place I discovered that IS relevant to Big Brother is a site that allows me (and you) to watch the ‘major’ networks Eastern time zone feed online for FREE from anywhere!

USTVNOWLOGO__1_The site I found is call  and its purpose is allow USA ‘expats,’ folks living permanently or temporarily outside the USA, the ability to view television from the USA (but it lets me view while here at home in the states as well).  I’m going to keep it simple as the actual site will allow users to view 6 FREE terrestrial channels including CBS.  For a fee you can also watch 22 more terrestrial & cable channels.

You can sign up for a free 45 day trial via this link and for those 45 days you can watch the free 6 channels (CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, CW and My9) on your computer, Roku, iPhone, iPad, Droid device.  After the 45 day trial you can still watch live TV but only on your computer and at ‘low’ quality (Still looks good to me!).  The process is very simple and there is no credit card required to sign up, just a valid email address.  The company has been around for at least 4 years so this isn’t some fly by night operation.

Additional information.  The CBS station is one in Pennsylvania so there is a chance that later on in the Big Brother season you may have delays do to football so keep that in mind.

The site has a built-in DVR feature to record shows but unlocking that feature takes an additional step that requires a friend to sign up.  For each referral you get (you can generate a link on the site) you get 4 hours or “DVR” time.   I have several hours at this point and it works great as a backup to my home DVR and the nice thing is that you can watch recorded shows on any device even after the 45 day trial.  Recorded shows are available for about two weeks and you have to manually pick each show to record on the free plan.  Please note the links in this write-up have my own referral code built into them.

So get busy and sign up if you don’t have access to another means to watch Big Brother when it airs live.

One last thing, if you haven’t signed up for the live feeds, please do so via this link or by clicking on a banner on the site. It would be greatly appreciated and the cost ($23.99 for the season) is the same no matter how you get to it.
